Who Am I Now

A glimpse of the past.
A tear of regret.
A longing for yesterday.
A look at today.

A love lost then.
A heart broke.
A time far away.
A look at today.

A walk down the road.
A skip of a rock on the lake.
A sun set her head on my shoulder.
A look at today.

A trip down a one lane road.
A rusty one lane bridge.
A laughter still echoing through hills.
A look at today.

A past and a present.
A present with a past.
A love lost with a heart broken.
And a look at today.

The present cannot change the past.
The present will always have the past.
The heart will always be broken.
And the love will always be lost.

And looking at today,
Will only give you peace.
Because there may be a tomorrow.
And tomorrow the past will be a little
Not part of the look of today.

A past.
A regret.
A yesterday.
A today.

It’s Cloudy Outside

It doesn’t take long,
But years may go by.
You will learn it quickly,
But you will be old when you understand.

It is cloudy but it doesn’t rain,
It is sunny but it is cold outside.
A turn of the dial does not mean  you are there.
It only means the turned the dial.

How long do we seek?
Without finding what we seek.
How long do we weep.
For those we have lost.

It doesn’t take a long time.
It just takes time.
We may not understand the meaning of  time.
But someday we will understand.

We long for answer.
We wish for understanding.
We dream of the passion.
We are souls in a journey.

Lost in the many paths.
The roads are narrow,
And the journey is long.
If we find the answer,
Will it end question?

A time that never stops,
Gets in our way.
We wanted everything yesterday.
And when it has passed.
It is gone, never to come again.

It doesn’t take long,
But years may go by.
You will learn it quickly,
But you will be old when you understand.

Take the moment for what it is.
For in that moment it is yours.
And in that moment is yours to take.

It is all up to you.

The Sum Of Who I Am

I am a sum of my parts?
So what is that?

I look at my hands and they are wrinkled.
They use to be smooth.
I look at my body and I am fat.
I use to be skinny.
I wear glasses.
I never wore glasses before.

So what sum are my parts?
Are they the total of the age that I am?
Or the time that I am in?

I cannot shake the past.
Nor can I stop tomorrow.
For one will become the other.
And the other will be a part.

The eyes see what is in front of them.
They do not judge nor do they lie.
Yet the truth that they tell can hurt.
And the hurt can last a lifetime.

So what is the sum?
If the sum comes from yesterday.
And yesterday comes from today.
How do we change tomorrow?

If tomorrow changes yesterday.
And today marks the new day.
What becomes of the future if tomorrow is changed?

What is the part that is the sum?
What part of the sum is the total?
What equals the sum of the total?
And when does the sum end?

I am the sum of my parts?
Or am I just the sum?

Path Of Yesterday

A cool breeze skims the lake

Bringing tranquil thoughts

Memories of long ago.

A sign of tomorrow,

A sign of today.

Life’s beginnings

And Life’s end.

Some believe the end is the beginning.

Others believe it is the end.

Some will say tomorrow will never come.

Other say we are never promised tomorrow.

Only our Faith that the Sun will rise.

Taught in the Old Ways.

Seeking the New Ways.

Embracing Old and New.

Some find a road to travel.

This road can take us many places.

Others follow a path.

And a path can take us to those same places.

Lessons from the past are needed here.

Taking only what we need.

Greed is an evil thing

Giving back more than we take.

These lessons were taught long before the “white man’ came.

They were handed down mouth to ear.

Today they are still handed down mouth to ear.

Nothing was ever written down as it was not necessary.

Traveling the “Red Road” as it is called.

This tells us that we have been greedy.

We have taken much more than we have given back.

Many lessons from another belief tell us that “Man will destroy Himself.”

Would that mean that taking more than we give back will be our end?

A sign of Tomorrow.

A sign of today.

Life’s beginning

And Life’s end.

It all depends

Not on one but all.

It all depends

Not on all but one.

For the need of all

Is but a planted seed in life.

If a change is in line.

A great revelation will appear.

Only if we embrace yesterday.

And if we bring yesterday into today.

A cool breeze skims the lake

Bringing tranquil thoughts

Memories of long ago.

A sign of tomorrow,

A sign of today.

Life’s beginnings

And Life’s end.
