The Dream That Will Never Be

The moon reflected off the water.
The headlights were turned off.
You turned to me and said.
“Do unto others as they would do unto you.”

I woke up this morning.
I woke up in life.
I looked and realized.

It was over.
It was never a dream.
It was all true.
And now I see.

Now I will miss you.
And it seems it will never be.
